Junior AI / LLM Engineer / Data Scientist - Leading AI Consultancy 
Location - Sydney only (2 days max in the office, rest from home!) - no remote / overseas options!

Join a leading AI consultancy where you’ll work alongside experienced AI engineers, data scientists, designers, and developers to build next-generation AI products used by major organisations across Australia. This is a hands-on role designed for early-career AI engineers who want to grow fast while working on meaningful, production-grade AI solutions.

About the Role

As a Junior AI Engineer/ Data Scientist, you’ll support the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered applications, with a strong focus on LLMs, RAG pipelines, and cloud-based AI systems. You’ll learn from senior engineers, contribute to real client projects, and build strong foundations in modern AI engineering best practices.

What you'll do

  • Work with senior AI engineers and data scientists to design and build AI solutions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining LLM workflows, RAG pipelines, and Vector DB integrations.
  • Help prepare, clean, and transform data for AI and ML use cases.
  • Write clean, well-tested Python code for production environments.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical forums.
  • Learn and apply best practices in AI, ML engineering.

What we are looking for 

  • 1–3 years’ experience in AI engineering, data science related role - consulting experience is not required but is a plus.
  • Strong foundation in Python dev with modern LLM/ML frameworks.
  • Exposure to LLMs, prompt engineering, or RAG-based systems (commercial or project-based).
  • Familiarity with ML concepts such as NLP, basic deep learning, or traditional ML models.
  • Interest or early exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Tech stack & extras
Good to have exposure or experience in - Git, Docker, microservices, ReactJS/NodeJS, observability standards (OpenTelemetry), message-queueing (Kafka/RabbitMQ), data pipelines at scale, and Agile delivery.
