We are seeking a motivated Junior Electrical PV & BESS System Engineer to join our Energy Efficiency team. The successful candidate will assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role provides hands-on experience in solar and storage project development, electrical design, and system performance analysis, with mentorship from senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and layout of PV and BESS systems, including single-line diagrams, cable sizing, grounding, and protection schemesSupport in preparing technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for solar + storage projectsConduct site assessments and feasibility studies, including load analysis, shading studies, and energy yield/storage modelingPerform electrical calculations (voltage drop, short-circuit, power losses, system efficiency).Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and contractors to ensure system integration between PV, BESS, and grid infrastructureSupport the installation, testing, and commissioning of PV and BESS systems.Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting technical issues for both PV and BESS assetsEnsure compliance with relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and grid interconnection requirementsStay updated on emerging solar + storage technologies, standards, and best practicesQualifications
BSc in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related fieldBasic knowledge of photovoltaic systems, inverters, battery technologies, and electrical equipmentFamiliarity with AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP, HOMER, or similar software is a plusUnderstanding of IEC, NEC, IEEE, or local electrical codes and standardsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood communication and teamwork abilitiesWillingness to learn and grow in the renewable energy and energy storage sectorHands-on exposure to electrical installations, testing, and commissioningPreferred Skills (Not Mandatory):
Internship or project experience in solar PV or BESSKnowledge of battery chemistries (e.g., Li-ion, flow batteries) and BMS (Battery Management Systems)Familiarity with SCADA and monitoring systems
