The Position

We are seeking a Lab Engineer  with strong cybersecurity expertise to design, build, and support hands-on virtual lab environments used for training, testing, and educational purposes. The ideal candidate will have practical experience with cybersecurity tools, virtualized infrastructures, and a passion for creating immersive learning environments for adult learners.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cybersecurity lab environments for training and education.
  • Build and configure virtual environments (VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ESXi, or similar).
  • Integrate, manage, and troubleshoot industry-standard cybersecurity tools such as:
  • Nmap, Wireshark, Splunk, Snort, Squid, F5 BIG-IP, Metasploit, and related platforms.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and trainers to ensure labs support course objectives.
  • Develop lab documentation, guides, and automation scripts to streamline learner experience.
  • Maintain lab stability, scalability, and security to support multiple concurrent learners.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations for enhancing lab-based learning.
  • (Preferred) Leverage Skillable Studio for lab creation and delivery.

    • What We Need From You

  • Strong hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies (listed above).
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms: VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ESXi, or equivalents.
  • Experience designing and maintaining virtual lab environments for cybersecurity training, education, or corporate environments.
  • Familiarity with industry-recognized certifications such as:
  • CompTIA (Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, CASP+)
  • EC-Council (CEH, CHFI, etc.)
  • SANS/GIAC
  • ISC² (CISSP, SSCP, CCSP, etc.)
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • It Would Be Nice If You Had

  • Experience working with Skillable Studio for lab development.
  • Background in adult-learning environments or instructional design.
  • Previous experience as a cybersecurity instructor/trainer, with a proven record of lab development.
  • Cloud environment experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) for lab hosting is a plus.
