Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our Corporate Desktop Engineering team. This role will be a key contributor in managing and troubleshooting our mac OS environment and administering our Jamf MDM platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in mac OS desktop management, application packaging, application deployment, scripting, and a strong understanding of MDM principles, specifically within the Jamf ecosystem. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our mac OS fleet.
Responsibilities:
• mac OS Environment Management:
o Serve as a subject matter expert for mac OS desktop engineering, providing advanced troubleshooting and support for complex issues.
o Develop and maintain standard mac OS build processes, deployments, and configurations.
o Package, test, and deploy applications and software updates across the mac OS environment using Jamf.
o Implement and manage security policies and compliance standards on mac OS devices.
o Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Shell/Bash) to streamline mac OS management tasks.
o Monitor the health and performance of the mac OS environment, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
o Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new mac OS technologies and tools.
• Jamf MDM Administration:
o Administer and maintain our Jamf Pro environment, ensuring its stability, security, and optimal performance.
o Develop and implement MDM policies, profiles, and configurations to manage mac OS devices effectively.
o Manage device enrollment, inventory, and compliance within Jamf.
o Troubleshoot issues related to device enrollment, configuration, and application deployment via Jamf.
o Develop and maintain Jamf scripts and API integrations to automate tasks and extend functionality.
o Stay up-to-date on the latest Jamf features and best practices.
• Troubleshooting and Support:
o Provide Tier 3/4 level support for mac OS and Jamf-related incidents and service requests.
o Analyze and resolve complex technical issues, documenting solutions and contributing to knowledge base articles.
o Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., Security, Networking) to resolve cross-functional issues.
• Project and Documentation:
o Lead or participate in projects related to mac OS and Jamf infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
o Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, configuration guides, and troubleshooting steps.
• Continuous Improvement:
o Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the mac OS and Jamf management workflows.
o Research and recommend new technologies and best practices to enhance the end-user experience and improve efficiency.
o Mentor and provide guidance to support teams.
Qualifications:
• 10+years of experience in desktop engineering with a strong focus on mac OS.
• Strong scripting skills for automation and system administration.
• Extensive experience administering and troubleshooting Jamf Pro in a corporate environment.
• Deep understanding of mac OS operating system internals, file systems, and security principles.
• Proven ability to package and deploy applications and software updates on mac OS using Jamf.
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID in a mac OS environment.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Jamf Certified Tech (JCT) or Jamf Certified Expert (JCE) certification.
• Experience with other MDM solutions beyond Jamf.
• Experience with mac OS zero-touch deployments.
• Experience with cloud-based services and integrations.
