Purpose of the Role
The Lead – Digital Payments & Automation is responsible for owning, scaling, and optimizing the organization’s digital payments ecosystem while driving high-impact automation across payment operations and revenue processes. The role ensures secure, scalable, compliant, and cost-efficient payment solutions across UPI, cards, wallets, net banking, and emerging payment rails, supported by robust automation and straight-through processing.
The position partners closely with banks, fintechs, NPCI, technology teams, and internal business stakeholders to improve payment success rates, reduce manual effort, enhance customer experience, ensure regulatory compliance, and support revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Payments Leadership
- Own end-to-end digital payment operations across UPI, cards, wallets, net banking, and future payment technologies.
- Define and drive payment platform strategy, governance, and operating models across businesses.
- Partner with NPCI, banks, fintechs, and payment aggregators to manage integrations, SLAs, commercials, and compliance.
- Ensure 100% regulatory and compliance adherence (RBI, NPCI, PCI-DSS, internal controls).
- Manage payment risk, fraud controls, and revenue leakage prevention in collaboration with risk and compliance teams.
- Lead U2C (Usage-to-Cash) payment flows, ensuring seamless linkage between billing, collections, and settlements.
- Drive cost optimization through commercial negotiations, routing strategies, and platform efficiencies.
Automation & Process Excellence
- Drive automation and straight-through processing (STP) across reconciliation, settlements, refunds, chargebacks, and dispute management.
- Lead requirements gathering and solution design for automation initiatives within digital payments and revenue operations.
- Review and guide preparation of BRDs, FRDs, epics, and user stories aligned to business outcomes.
- Work closely with technology teams to prioritize backlogs, support sprint execution, and ensure timely delivery of automation solutions.
- Ensure automation solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business processes.
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve turnaround times, and enhance operational efficiency.
Reporting, Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Deliver dashboard-driven MIS, KPIs, and insights for leadership visibility and decision-making.
- Ensure audit readiness through strong documentation, controls, and process adherence.
- Act as a key coordination point between business, technology, finance, risk, legal, and compliance teams.
- Mentor and guide managers and teams, building strong capabilities in payments operations, automation, and governance.
