Lead Engineer PHP- Accommodation (Hybrid)

We're seeking an experienced Lead Engineer PHP to join our Accommodation team in Barcelona (Hybrid). Your role will focus on developing and leveraging the best e‑commerce technology to create a one‑stop‑shop for our customers, ensuring top‑quality service from booking to post‑booking.
What you will do:
Lead the entire product development lifecycle from ideation to delivery.
Manage a small engineering team, motivating and growing talent.
Work with the latest tech stack: PHP 8.2, MariaDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, ClickHouse, Kong, Docker, GCP, Grafana, Kibana, and AI tools.
Actively participate in product definition and ideation processes.
Write high‑quality code with a focus on design, testing, and performance.
Apply Kanban practices within a fully agile organization.
Own and monitor product and technical OKRs.
Mentor junior team members and foster continuous improvement.
Challenge decisions proactively to promote technical excellence.
What you need to succeed:
At least 2–3 years of people‑management experience.
Passion for coaching and mentoring.
Strategic mindset with a can‑do attitude.
7+ years of PHP experience (knowledge of Java is an advantage).
Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals (data structures, concurrency, design patterns, algorithms).
Comfort with microservices, clean code, SOLID principles, and TDD.
Data‑driven mindset to tackle business challenges.
Experience with Cloud platforms and continuous delivery.
Analytical skills and creative problem‑solving.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with applied AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
Curiosity and eagerness to experiment with emerging AI solutions.
Ability to use AI for debugging, process improvement, and productivity gains.
Adaptability and learning agility for evolving AI features.
Interest in collaborating with AI tools as "pair programmers."
