Main Purpose
The Lead Engineer Piping shall be responsible for all piping engineering activities of the project, including project management, budget control, detailed engineering, interface management, support to construction, facilitation of commissioning, troubleshooting, and steady-state operational support.
Job Accountabilities:
• Responsible for conceptual design, plot plans, and scope of work for detail engineering consultants and construction contractors; preparation of cost estimates for engineering, materials, and construction; review of deliverables from DEC/vendors; conducting 3D model reviews and addressing interface issues; technical bid evaluation; MTO management; and recommendation for placement of orders for valves, piping bulks, and firewater items.
• Engineering interface management and inter-disciplinary coordination for plot plans, equipment layouts, equipment, and packages.
• Vendor management, including document approval, expediting, inspection, and dispatch.
• Support the construction team in fabrication, erection, and testing by providing AFC drawings and materials as per the project schedule. Address field engineering issues and audit observations.
• Support O&M during commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and steady-state operations. Carry out root cause analysis for failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement lessons learned from past projects and value engineering initiatives. Carry out on-the-job training for subordinates.
Skills Required:
• Conversant with applicable piping codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, OISD, etc.) and able to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, process, statutory, safety, operation, maintenance, and constructability requirements.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing conceptual plot plans, equipment layouts, budget estimates, specifications, MTOs, SOWs, BOQs, and engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, data sheets, and 3D models.
Qualification and Experience:
• Graduate Engineer (BE/BTech) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Overall experience of 10–12 years in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or CBM industry.
• Experience in Concept, FEED, and Detailed Engineering for at least one project in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or CBM sector.
• Proven experience in working with and managing reputed national and international engineering consultants, as well as package and equipment vendors.
