Job Description

  • Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles for designing optimum alloy compositions, heat treatment cycles, and hot working sequences.
  • Ability to meet mechanical property requirements as per customer specifications and international codes/standards for heavy forgings used in critical applications.
  • 2. Steel Making & Forging Experience

  • Hands-on experience with metallurgical aspects of steel making, hot forging sequences, and heat treatment for heavy forgings such as: ASME Sec IIA grade thick forgingsRotor forgings for power generationHeavy forgings for other engineering applications
  • 3. Additional Material Knowledge

  • Exposure to non-ferrous and exotic materials will be an added advantage.
  • 4. Failure Analysis

  • Proven track record in conducting failure analysis and root cause analysis for quality issues related to mechanical properties and internal soundness.
  • 5. Heat Treatment Processes

  • In-depth knowledge of various heat treatment processes, material grades, and process parameters for steel making, forging, and heat treatment.
  • 6. Technical Documentation

  • Experience in reviewing technical specifications and developing: Material Data SheetsProcess Parameterization SheetsFailure analysis reportsOther documentation related to manufacturing and knowledge management
  • 7. Standards & Codes

  • Sound knowledge of ASME, ASTM, DIN, EN, and other national/international standards and codes applicable to materials and testing.
  • 8. Simulation Tools

  • Exposure to simulation of forging and casting processes is desirable.
