Job Description

Primary Functions:

• Gather, analyze, and transform large raw data sets into performance reports with actionable insights using data modeling best practices in SAP HANA and Redshift.
• Develop and maintain efficient data models, leveraging expertise in ECC6 subject areas (e.g., Financial Accounting, Controlling, Materials Management, Sales and Distribution, Production Planning) replicated via SLT.
• Apply best practices in performance tuning, view materialization, stored procedure development, comprehensive documentation, complex modeling, and data management, including table partitioning and Native Storage Extension (NSE) to optimize memory usage.
• Collaborate with product owners and AWS Data Engineering teams to integrate Glue-based data ingestion and manage CDC for materializing HANA view changes to AWS.
• Validate and optimize complex SQL queries.
• Conduct thorough peer reviews of HANA modelers work to ensure quality standards.
• Provide thought leadership by understanding business context and offering strategic suggestions to functional teams and business users throughout the development cycle.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelors degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or engineering.
• Deep expertise in building HANA calculated views in a pure analytics environment (not S4 on HANA).
• Strong knowledge of ECC6 subject areas, including Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Production Planning (PP), with SLT replication experience.
• Proven ability to implement best practices in performance tuning, view materialization, stored procedures, documentation, complex modeling, and data management, including table partitioning and NSE for memory optimization.
• Understanding of common, landing, transformation, and reporting layers of calculated views.
• Background in finance to align model development with business goals.
• Proficiency with table functions, CTE, stored procedures, table creation, and triggers.
• Solution-oriented mindset with a track record of meeting deadlines in fast-paced settings.
• Creative problem-solving skills to translate data into actionable insights.
• Commitment to a people-and-process-first approach in technology projects.
• Ability to understand business context and deliver thought leadership with actionable suggestions for functional teams and business users during development.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• Working knowledge of statistical/machine learning tools (e.g., R, TensorFlow) preferred.
• Familiarity with "Big Data" solutions like Hadoop, NoSQL, or MapReduce, preferred.
• Experience with AWS Glue, CDC processes, and integrating HANA with cloud platforms.
• Proven ability to lead peer reviews and foster team collaboration.
• Self-motivated with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions for stakeholders.
• Resourceful in sourcing data and tools to meet project needs.
