Job Summary:

The Lead Network Operations engineer is a senior team member and subject matter expert responsible for guiding the Network Operations team, acting as a primary escalation point for complex network issues, and driving strategic initiatives. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the network infrastructure. The Lead will mentor junior team members, oversee projects like data center builds, and contribute to the continuous improvement of network operations, processes, and documentation.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

• Technical Leadership and Escalation: Serve as the final point of escalation for all network-related issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex problems. Mentor and guide Level I/II operations staff, fostering technical and professional growth.
• Strategic Project Implementation: Lead the planning and execution of network monitoring and infrastructure upgrades. Collaborate with Network Engineering to define project scope, timelines, and implementation strategies, ensuring seamless integration and minimal service disruption.
• Process Improvement and Documentation: Develop and refine operational procedures, best practices, and network documentation. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance network performance, reliability, and security.
• Advanced Maintenance and Configuration: Oversee and perform routine hardware and software upgrades, ensuring adherence to change management policies.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

8+ years of technical experience in network, security, and transport-related fields.

• Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience is required.

• CCNP/CCIE certification or equivalent experience is highly preferred.

• Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching technologies in datacenter networks (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VXLAN).

• Deep understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite and extensive experience with packet capture analysis.

• Substantial experience administering Cisco product lines (IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR, and NX OS) and firewall technologies (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).

• Proven experience with Linux-based systems and scripting for network automation (Python, Bash).

• Ability to work non-traditional hours and lead incident response
