Lead - Oracle Database Engineer
This role is part of the Technology Center of Excellence (TCOE), which provides Oracle database administration during off-America hours and supports project delivery in collaboration with the US team. The Lead Oracle Database Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, incident handling, performance tuning, and ensuring database availability and recoverability under the guidance of TCOE leadership and in alignment with global database standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and excellent communication skills to work effectively across global teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain Oracle database infrastructure and support and administer a complex database environment consisting of 50+ databases or over 1 TB in size.Perform Oracle backup and recovery, monitoring, and ensure database security compliance and troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently.Conduct monitoring, cloning, and performance tuning of databases, including job administration using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).Implement and maintain high availability architectures such as Oracle RAC and Data Guard. Execute data export operations (e.g., table pulls) and ensure data integrity.Manage AWS-hosted Oracle databases, including RDS and EC2 instance types. Perform database migration and conversion to and from Oracle databases.Administer Oracle databases on Linux environments, ensuring optimal performance and utilizing strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, commands, and disk volume storage for database operations.Develop and maintain Shell scripts and PL/SQL scripts for automation and database management tasks.Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent experience.Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in Oracle Database infrastructure, with strong expertise in backup, recovery, monitoring, and security.Experience managing complex database environments, including large-scale setups with 50+ databases or over 1 TB in size, along with extensive troubleshooting and performance tuning expertise using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).Expertise in high availability and migration, including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and database migration/conversion processes.Experience in Cloud & AWS integration, including managing Oracle databases on AWS (RDS and EC2 instance types).Strong knowledge of Linux OS, including commands and disk volume storage, with proficiency in Shell scripting and PL/SQL scripting.Experience in Data Management and Export Operations, including data export (e.g., table pulls) and database cloning processes.Additional Skills (Nice to Have):
Experience with backup tools such as Commvault.Exposure to or experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS).Familiarity with open-source databases like MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.Hands-on experience with JIRA and ITSM ticketing systems.
