Main Purpose:
This position is responsible for supervising reservoir management activities for CBM fields covering both development and production. The role includes quality control as well as independently carrying out dynamic modelling, history matching, and production forecasting. The incumbent will prepare depletion plans and provide inputs for interventions, infill drilling, etc., prepare responses to third-party technical queries, and participate in all technical studies related to CBM fields.
Job Accountabilities:
• Responsible for reservoir management and for independently carrying out and/or performing QC of reservoir simulation, history matching, and production forecasting for CBM fields to support achievement of production targets.
• Responsible for recovery optimization through evaluation of field performance and identification of the need for workovers, infill drilling, or development wells.
• Responsible for preparation of technical proposals and plans related to field development, including well spacing decisions, infill drilling, and selection of completion and stimulation targets.
• Supervise well testing activities such as injection fall-off tests and pressure build-up studies, including analysis of data generated from these tests.
• Conduct field performance analysis using reservoir engineering techniques, assess variance from expectations, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Generate short-term and long-term production forecasts.
• Participate in the reserve assurance process for estimation of resources and reserves, including involvement in third-party studies.
• Prepare responses to technical queries raised by DGH and participate in TCMs, workshops, and third-party technical studies related to CBM fields.
• Along with the team, assess risks and uncertainties associated with CBM development and production and contribute to preparation and maintenance of the risk register.
Skills Required:
• Strong fundamental knowledge of CBM reservoir engineering.
• Expertise in reservoir modelling and simulation; working knowledge of software such as COMET3, Eclipse, and Petrel-RE.
• Sound understanding of classical reservoir engineering and well testing.
• Knowledge of software such as OFM, MBAL, PROSPER, and WELLFLO will be an added advantage.
• Supervisory skills for effective QC of studies and delivery of quality outputs within defined timelines.
• Strong cross-functional interaction skills and understanding of multi-disciplinary workflows.
• Experience in risk and uncertainty analysis.
• Good understanding of the fundamentals of geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and production engineering.
• Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering.
• 8–12 years of reservoir engineering and field development experience, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in reservoir simulation. Experience in subsurface activities in producing or developing CBM gas fields is preferred.
