The Role
This role will transform the way we do learning at TasWater. Reporting into the Head of Culture and Capability, your work will help our people to reach their full potential by building the critical skills and capabilities we need to thrive, now and in the future.
Leading a small team, you’ll be responsible for finalising and implementing TasWater’s future learning strategy and delivering innovative learning programs that ensure our people have access to the development they need to be safe, skilled and effective in their roles.
Leadership of this function will include:
- Finalise and implement a learning and development strategy aligned to business needs and learner aspirations.
- Lead the development and implementation of capability frameworks and associated curriculum for professional and operational roles.
- Manage compliance training, ensuring alignment with organisational and regulatory standards, and identify opportunities to improve program delivery and effectiveness.
- Lead the design and implementation of engaging learning programs, that leverage contemporary learning methodologies and cater to a geographically dispersed workforce.
- Lead the learning and development team, providing strategic direction and coaching to ensure the delivery of effective learning and development programs.

What we're looking for
We're seeking an experienced and influential leader with a proven track record of leading and transforming a learning function. You know how to leverage modern learning methods to create programs that are as effective as they are engaging.
To be successful we’re looking for the following:
- Experience in defining the strategic direction for a learning and development function with a focus on technical and compliance training.
- Expertise in leading the design and implementation of professional development and operational capability frameworks, and associated curriculum.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment and demonstrated experience in satisfying statutory training requirements, including partnering with RTOs to deliver cost-effective and high-quality training outcomes.
- Experience in the design and implementation of learning management systems and technology-driven learning solutions.
- Proven leadership capability that inspires and motivates teams to achieve desired outcomes within large, regulated organisations.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and change management skills, with the ability to effectively engage, build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport.
