Job Description
The Linux Administrator (L2) will be responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Linux servers across production and non-production environments. The role involves providing day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, while ensuring high availability, security, and compliance of systems.

- Core Administration & Monitoring
- Installation & configuration of Linux Operating Systems.
- Hardening of Linux OS and patch installation.
- Health monitoring of Linux servers (CPU/Memory/Disk/System Load).
- OS reboot, shutdown, and start-up procedures.
- OS log management (rotation, purging) and monitoring of system logs.
- Disk management, file system management, user & group management.
- Configuration of network, NTP, and OS parameters.
- Installation of RPMs/software packages (Java, sudo, lsof, etc.).
- Management of cron jobs.
- Support & Coordination
- First-level coordination with Application Support and Development teams for OS-related issues.
- OS support during DB patching, application patching, and hardware maintenance.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and communication problems.
- Logging calls with hardware OEM/AMC vendors for replacement of failed parts.
- Logging and coordination with software OEM/ATS vendors for software-related issues.
- Provide L2-level support and resolution of issues escalated by L1.
- Advanced Administration
- Linux Kernel upgrade and OS migration.
- Installation/configuration of network services (DNS, NFS, SAMBA, YUM server).
- SAN storage-related configuration in Linux servers.
- Support for DC/DR switchover and switchback activities.
- Installation/configuration of Apache and Tomcat servers.
- Performance monitoring, tuning, automation, and optimization activities.
- RedHat PCS cluster configuration, troubleshooting, and support.
- Architecture, Compliance & Management
- Planning & designing deployment architecture for Linux servers.
- Setup and administration of high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) environments including clustering, failover, fencing, and recovery.
- Capacity planning and performance statistics analysis.
- Formulation of backup and recovery strategies.
- Audit and compliance support.
- Documentation, inventory maintenance (servers, users, groups).
- Team/resource management and coordination with client/vendors/other support teams.
