Gastroenterology Physician Job Details Location: Fortuna, CA 95540 (Northern California healthcare jobs) Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Per Diem Gastroenterology Physician) Start Date: May 1, 2026 End Date: Ongoing assignment Shifts: Weekday clinic (7:30am–3:30pm or 7:40am–3:40pm) with night call (5pm–7:30/7:40am next day); Weekend call is 24-hour coverage Shift Duration: 12 hours (varies by schedule) Guaranteed Hours: 8 per day Patient Encounters Per Shift: 12–16 Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 90–120 days Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $14,170 - $15,180 Gastroenterology Physician Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent hospital clinical experience in gastroenterology Active California medical license and DEA (California physician jobs) Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (within 5 years of residency) BLS certification required Proficiency in ERCP procedures Fluoroscopy proficiency (temporary license available; permanent required within one year) Ability to provide gastroenterology case logs upon request Fellowship in Gastroenterology preferred Explanation required for gaps greater than 3 months in clinical activity Gastroenterology Physician Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive gastroenterology care in clinic and hospital settings Perform upper and lower GI endoscopies, biopsies, polyp excisions, and foreign body removal Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP procedures Perform esophageal dilatation, manometry, and interpretation Conduct small bowel and liver biopsies Manage PEG placements and flexible sigmoidoscopies Provide night and weekend call coverage as scheduled Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters and procedures Discover the beauty of Northern California in Fortuna—enjoy outdoor recreation, local culture, and the Pacific Northwest’s stunning landscapes while advancing your gastroenterology career.
