Hematology/Oncology Physician Job Details Employment Type: Locum tenens (contract healthcare position) Location: Eureka, CA 95501 (Northern California oncology jobs) Setting: Oncology clinic and hospital Schedule: 5 shifts per week (full-time preferred; flexible 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule considered) Shift Duration: 8 hours per day (1-hour lunch break) Hours per Week: Approximately 36 Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $13,500 - $14,460 Patient Encounters: 12-15 per shift Call Coverage: 1 week out of every 3 (evening phone call coverage; weekends are 24-hour phone call only, no onsite call-back) Start Date: February 1, 2026 (March start available for additional credentialing) Contract Duration: Ongoing locum tenens assignment Physician Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient clinical experience in hematology/oncology Active California medical license required Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine – Hematology and Oncology BLS certification required Clean credentialing file preferred for expedited start Explanation required for clinical gaps greater than 3 months Current case logs required for surgical specialties Key Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive hematology and oncology care in both clinic and hospital settings Manage 12-15 patient encounters per shift, focusing on quality cancer care and continuity Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a COC-accredited program handling 500 analytic cases annually Participate in scheduled phone call coverage (no onsite call-back required) Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation Follow clinic protocols and pre-approval requirements for overtime Experience the rewarding lifestyle and professional growth offered by Eureka, California healthcare jobs.
