Job Description
The Lube Technician / Entry-Level Mechanic is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance on heavy equipment. This position is ideal for individuals looking to begin a career in diesel or heavy-duty mechanics while gaining hands-on experience in a fleet environment. This position is located in a Landfill. Must be able to work in the elements.
Compensation:$17 - $18 hourly
Responsibilities:- Perform oil and fluid changes on trucks and heavy equipment
- Grease chassis, suspensions, steering components, and driveline parts
- Inspect vehicles for basic mechanical issues and report findings to senior mechanics
- Check and top off fluids (engine oil, coolant, transmission, hydraulic, DEF)
- Replace basic wear items such as filters, belts, hoses, and wiper blades
- Assist mechanics with repairs and shop organization
- Perform basic tire checks, rotations, and air pressure adjustments
- Maintain a clean and organized shop, tools, and work areas
- Follow safety procedures and company maintenance standards
- Complete maintenance documentation and inspection reports
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Mechanical aptitude or prior experience with vehicles, equipment, or maintenance
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and shop equipment
- Willingness to learn diesel and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dirty, and physically demanding environment
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus, but not required)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
