PERSOL brings together the legacy and experience of four organisations that shaped the staffing landscape over the past century: Kelly Services, SKILLED, Programmed, and PERSOL. M365 SharePoint Developer role for WA Gov. Contract – ASAP until mid-April 2026.

The role supports modernising WA Gov's intranet, iFind. The existing intranet is built on SharePoint Classic and is no longer supported by Microsoft. iFind relies on custom web parts and page templates that will stop functioning on 1 April 2026. A new minimum viable product (MVP) intranet is to be built, providing a stable, scalable platform using SharePoint Online and out-of-the-box components.

Responsibilities

The following outlines the hands-on work and responsibilities for this role:

  • Develop and deliver a modern SharePoint Online intranet (MVP) using out-of-the-box components.
  • Design and implement information architecture, navigation, metadata, and content types for a scalable intranet.
  • Develop SPFx extensions and web parts to complement OOTB features; ensure maintainability and alignment with Microsoft best practices.
  • Automate provisioning, templates deployment, permissions, governance tasks, and reporting using PnP PowerShell.
  • Design site templates (Site Scripts / Site Designs / PnP Templates) and page templates; standardise branding, structure, and governance across the intranet.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and permissions models; integrate SPO with Teams and MS Search as needed.
  • Adopt governance and best practices; maintain clear documentation (architecture, templates, scripts, support handover).

Qualifications / Required Skills

This is a hands-on technical role. The following skills, knowledge, and experience are required:

  • SharePoint Online (Modern Experience)
    • Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Online (Modern Experience)
    • Understanding of out-of-the-box web parts, site templates, and hub sites
    • Experience designing and delivering enterprise intranets using standard SPO capabilities
    • Knowledge of information architecture, navigation, metadata, and content types
  • SPFx (SharePoint Framework)
    • Ability to develop SPFx extensions and web parts where OOTB features are insufficient
    • Experience building lightweight, maintainable customisations that align with Microsoft best practices
    • Strong understanding of TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks
    • Awareness of SPFx versioning, upgrades, and long-term maintainability
  • PowerShell & Automation
    • Proficiency with PnP PowerShell for SharePoint Online
    • Ability to automate:
      • Site provisioning
      • Template deployment
      • Permissions and governance tasks
      • Bulk configuration and reporting
  • Template & Provisioning Design
    • Experience designing and implementing:
      • Site templates (Site Scripts / Site Designs / PnP Templates)
      • Page templates and reusable layouts
      • Standardisation of branding, structure, and governance across the intranet
  • Microsoft 365 Ecosystem Knowledge
    • Understanding of SPO integration with Microsoft Products (Teams, MS Search)
    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and permissions models
  • Governance & Best Practices
    • Strong understanding of SharePoint governance, including: permissions management, content lifecycle, and clear documentation skills (architecture, templates, scripts, and support handover)
