What you can expect as a Machinist Intern at DAS Aviation: The Machinist Intern is responsible for mentoring with DAS Aviation's active Machinist during their work assignments. This position also involves working on their own work assignments under the supervision of the DAS Aviation Machinist and Shift Supervisors. You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including: Proactively build fundamental skill sets through training and mentorship. Ensure that all documentation is completed and signed off accurately in a timely manner. Assist with completing all required paperwork and with the closure of Work Orders. Assist experienced machinists (setup tools, measure parts, clean, organize and document work) Use CNC programming software under supervision (without running the machine) Perform manual inspections of parts and parts design, repairs etc. Learn from experienced machinists about tooling, tolerances and materials. Operate non-hazardous machines (such as basic drill presses, inspection tools and/or some manual mills under direct supervision and guidance) Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English. Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. What you'll need to bring with you: Your Education A High school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal. Your Experience Completed or Currently enrolled in a Trade School, Technical College or College correlating with machining. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 products required. Ability to successfully work with others as part of a team to achieve established goals. Basic machining fundamentals. Metrology knowledge including calipers, vernier micrometers, and basic gages. Your Initiative We're looking for a team player who is self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Your Sense of Responsibility: Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. Notify Shift Supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day. Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer-oriented work habits. Attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality of work.
