The Role

As a Mainframe Systems Specialist, you will provide advanced programming and subsystem support for mainframe operating systems and DBDC environments. This role is critical to ensuring system stability, compliance and optimization across zOS, zVM and zLinux platforms. You will lead root cause analysis discussions, drive automation initiatives and mentor junior team members while collaborating with global teams to maintain business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee administration and optimization of mainframe systems (zOS, zVM, zLinux) following best practices.
• Ensure system availability, patch compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and control systems from the main console, proactively identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
• Plan, execute, and review batch operations, driving automation and efficiency.
• Lead lifecycle management of media, including migration, archival and secure disposal.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Participate in functional program planning and influence decisions across departments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years in mainframe operations or media management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
• Deep expertise in mainframe environments (zOS, zVM, zLinux) and media lifecycle management.
• Proven track record in process improvements, automation and compliance initiatives.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• English proficiency: intermediate to advanced (required for global communication and documentation).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field.
• Certifications in ITIL, mainframe technologies or media management.
• Experience with VTS IBM.
