The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara are also building a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

Maintenance Superintendent - Electrical & Instrumentation

We are seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for a permanent ongoing residential role in Karratha, Western Australia. The Maintenance Superintendent has direct responsibility for leading a team of engineers, planners, coordinators and indirect responsibility for technicians, to execute preventative and corrective maintenance on site.

The Maintenance Superintendent responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Operations to address reliability risks and deploy resources effectively.

  • Communicate priorities clearly to the maintenance team and coordinate engineers to resolve complex issues.

  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet schedule, quality, and safety standards.

  • Lead toolbox meetings and participate in daily production meetings.

  • Manage team rosters, leave, call-outs, and timesheets.

  • Monitor work quality, safety compliance, and conduct audits with follow-up actions.

  • Control maintenance costs and optimise material planning and stock levels.

  • Oversee spare parts replenishment and supplier performance.

  • Support efficient use of maintenance systems (e.g., SAP) and drive continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate Yara’s Leadership Behaviours (Live the Strategy, Be the Change, Explore and Adapt, Build Trust) as a key part of leading and developing your team.
  • About You


  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred, and Membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia (MIEAust) or equivalent (if applicable).



  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar industry (petrochemical, gas processing, or oil refining), including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.



  • Strong SAP knowledge and advanced MS Office skills.



  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.



  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency required (temporary work visa holders are not eligible).
