Manager, IT Unix and OpenShift Administration

Location: Hyderabad, India

Micron Technology is a dynamic company that offers challenging and rewarding work opportunities. The Manager of IT Unix and OpenShift Operations leads a global operations team in India. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality delivery and supporting our move to a Private Cloud built with OpenShift technology. The role involves managing continuous 24*7 operations, integrating new environments, and maintaining all parts of the Unix and OpenShift platforms across production and development/test systems worldwide.

The main objectives include delivering agile and secure services that maintain high availability. Provide advice and mentorship on all technical issues. Continuously raise automation levels to maintain quality. Meet financial targets. Aim for a high degree of customer happiness.

The Manager of Operations is committed to owning their actions, identifying fresh ways to increase the services' agility and efficiency, and regularly building new skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate as the central communication link for Global Unix and OpenShift Operations. Coordinate both Unix and private (on-prem) cloud operations.
  • Manage a group of professionals, accountable for maintaining hardware, software, and services that support business processing requirements in our Unix and private cloud environments.
  • Work closely with security operations to maintain the accurate security posture.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business owners on developing standards, application solution reviews, POCs, and private cloud migrations.
  • Collaborate with risk and business continuity teams on Disaster Recovery plans and activities.
  • Manage vendors, contracts, and maintenance agreements.
  • Facilitate communication between internal customers and operations personnel, including third-party providers.
  • Ensure that the global performance of the service fulfills the SLA and OLA requirements.
  • Drive service improvements from existing or potential third-party providers by reviewing and analyzing contracts, quotes, upgrades, and cost/benefits of the services offered.
  • Requirements:

  • More than 10 years of background in directing Enterprise level IT operations and managing operations teams.
  • Extensive understanding of Unix/Linux Technologies and OpenShift/Containerization.
  • More than 3 years of experience managing an IT Unix Operations Team.
  • Experience in building positive relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience on Linux and OpenShift, including crafting and scaling environments.
  • Strong Scripting Skills (Ansible, Shell, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Technical certifications on Unix and/or OpenShift are required.
  • Extensive understanding of ITIL processes and ticketing platforms, such as ServiceNow.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal).
  • Strong skills in decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation.
