Job Description – Manager - Learning & Development

The Manager – Learning & Development will be responsible for driving Tropical Agro’s learning, talent development, and talent management agenda across corporate and business functions. The role will focus on building a high-performance learning culture, strengthening leadership pipelines, and executing strategic talent development projects aligned with business growth.

This position will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing end-to-end learning interventions, competency development programs, succession planning initiatives, and organization-wide talent management frameworks.


Key Responsibilities


1. Learning & Development Strategy Execution

  • Develop and execute the annual Learning & Development roadmap aligned with Tropical Agro’s business priorities.
  • Partner with leadership to identify capability gaps and build functional and behavioral development programs.
  • Drive L&D interventions across levels including frontline, middle management, and senior leadership.


2. Talent Management & Development Projects

  • Lead key talent management initiatives such as:
  • Competency framework implementation
  • Career development pathways
  • Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • High Potential (HiPo) identification and development
  • Succession planning programs
  • Ensure talent development processes are embedded across the organization.


3. Leadership Development & Pipeline Building

  • Design and implement leadership development journeys for mid to senior-level employees.
  • Build strong leadership pipelines for critical and future-ready roles across business verticals.
  • Coordinate executive coaching, mentoring programs, and leadership assessments.


4. Training Need Identification & Capability Building

  • Conduct Training Need Analysis (TNA) through performance reviews, competency assessments, and business discussions.
  • Identify technical, functional, managerial, and behavioral training requirements.
  • Ensure learning programs address both current and future capability needs.


5. Learning Program Design & Delivery

  • Conceptualize and deliver impactful learning programs including:
  • Functional and domain capability development
  • Manager effectiveness programs
  • Behavioral and soft skills training
  • Culture-building and engagement workshops
  • Collaborate with internal SMEs and external facilitators for program delivery.


6. Strategic Talent Development Initiatives

  • Actively contribute to strategic HR transformation projects related to:
  • Talent development architecture
  • Learning digitization and LMS implementation
  • Building internal talent academies
  • Employer capability branding
  • Support organizational growth through scalable talent development solutions.


7. Performance Management & Development Integration

  • Work closely with HR Business Partners to integrate learning outcomes with performance management.
  • Ensure development initiatives support performance improvement and career progression.
  • Facilitate development-focused performance discussions and feedback culture.


8. Learning Governance, Metrics & Impact Measurement

  • Track training effectiveness using KPIs such as:
  • Training coverage and participation
  • Learning hours per employee
  • Program feedback scores
  • Post-training performance impact
  • Leadership readiness metrics
  • Prepare dashboards and reports for leadership review.


9. Vendor & External Partner Management

  • Identify, onboard, and manage external training vendors, consultants, and academic partnerships.
  • Ensure cost-effective, high-quality learning delivery with measurable outcomes.


10. Culture & Engagement through Learning

  • Promote a continuous learning culture across Tropical Agro.
  • Drive employee engagement through development initiatives, knowledge-sharing platforms, and learning communities.
