This position is within Harman’s Automotive Division, under the Connectivity Strategic Business Unit SBU). As the automotive industry is rapidly transforming due to shifting consumer expectations, technological advancements, and a heightened focus on in-cabin experience enhanced by connectivity, the Connectivity SBU is seeking an innovative and driven Automotive Connectivity Product Manager to define and execute the strategic roadmap for Ready Connect Telematics Control Unit (TCU) product suite.
Your Role/Team
This position will report to the lead Product Manager for Ready Connect and will be an individual contributor role working with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of the product suite. This is a unique opportunity to lead the market adoption of evolving connectivity technologies such as 5G cellular, satellite communication, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, and V2X. By supporting and leading efforts in the Ready Connect team under Portfolio Management team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of connected car industry through product strategy and roadmap development. Achieving these objectives requires a forward-thinking perspective, hands-on approach, collaborative mindset, and attention to details.
What You Will Do
Product Strategy / Roadmap Development
Support the lead Product Manager define and maintain Product family strategiesProduct portfolio: Define product portfolio strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with market / technology trends and organizational visions / competenciesProduct line:
Define product lines in the portfolio through identifying market opportunities and defining product strategies.Define high-level technical concepts involving hardware, software, and service with key differentiators.
Document key findings and decisions in Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) / Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
Drive the internally defined process for new product lines
Update the portfolio roadmap and product lines on a regular and on-demand basisMarket Analysis
Market opportunity analysis: Understand market / customer requirements, focusing on automotive OEMs’ connected car strategies, connectivity standards, and regulationsWork with Solution Architects to identify new market opportunities and integrate market trends into product linesMarket and Technology Leadership
Go-To-Market (GTM) / Customer Engagement: Work with GTM lead to define GTM strategies and support customer engagement for successful product adoptionPartners and suppliers: Identify and engage with key partners and suppliers to align product offerings with their technology roadmapsBusiness Model Innovations: Explore new business models to establish additional revenue sourcesTechnology Innovations: Generate innovative ideas and protect them as Intellectual Property (IP)Proof of Concept (PoC) / Demo: Support POC / Demo lead in developing PoC proposals for automotive OEMs to demonstrate and evaluate new use cases and technologiesMarketing: Provide input to Marketing team to create effective marketing collaterals for customer meetings and trade showsIndustry recognition: Establish industry recognition as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the organization and across the industryCost leadership: Work with Finance team to create and update product business cases. Review revenue and cost structure, P&L and make necessary decision to enhance financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Business Case (BC) and Business Commitment

Making sure the product development is meeting the roadmap expectationCross-Functional Collaboration / Reporting
Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, product delivery, business development / customer account management, procurement, manufacturing, finance, marketing, legal, government affairs to execute product strategy successfullySupport internal reporting / review activities on a regular and on-demand basisEngage with external partners, suppliers, and regulatory bodies as neededAdditional Responsibilities:
Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall success of the product management teamWhat You Need
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.10+ year of overall working experience including 5+ years in product management, product development, or a related role within automotive OEMs, suppliers, or technology sectors such as wireless communication and semiconductor.General knowledge of vehicle Electrical and Electronics (E/E) architectures, infotainment and connectivity systemsDeep understanding of wireless standards such as 3GPP cellular (4G/5G), satellite communications, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)Ability to discuss system-level considerations of end-to-end telematics system (Cloud-based applications, IP / Mobile Network Operator (MNO) network, wireless propagation channel, antenna / RF, baseband, security)Proficiency in data analysis and documentation tools (Microsoft Office, Aha!, Salesforce, etc.)Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple prioritiesExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsWhat is Nice to Have
