Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the successful execution of all assigned tasks, including running proposals (interfacing with Aecon functional groups), running ECI’s, and running projects (including EPC’s).

What You’ll Do Here

  • Work with Sr. Management in the preparation of detailed construction and design estimates, including developing tender submissions for active pursuits with operations and estimating teams.
  • Run project(s) with the construction team, including shift work on-site as required.
  • Resolve project-level issues/disputes and escalate to the Sr. Project Manager as needed.
  • Travel to various site locations may be required.
  • Set out schedules and critical milestones.
  • Set out production targets and monitor performance; adapt to changes and remove roadblocks.
  • Manage team performance and monitor deliverables.
  • Handle all commercial issues with a focus on win/win outcomes.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage disputes related to the project.
  • Manage and monitor project budget.
  • Conduct weekly scheduling meetings with the project team.
  • Provide technical expertise to project team and client; offer technical support to field staff.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Management to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and with quality.
  • Ensure project controls are in place (scheduling, subcontractor management, cost forecasting, change management, document control, labour tracking, KPI tracking, equipment tracking, accrual management, invoicing, POs, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Education in Engineering, Construction Project Management, or a related field, or a combination of technical training and related experience.
  • Proactive thinking, urgency, collaboration, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to take direction with minimal follow-up.
  • Experience in estimating and proposals is an asset.
  • Experience on EPC contracts is an asset.
  • Experience running transmission/substation projects is an asset.
  • Construction industry experience is required; utility industry experience is a strong asset.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Project Manager role.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to resolve project disputes with minimal assistance; foster cross-department collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel when running projects, including shift work.
  • Strong computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, Primavera P6/Microsoft Project, and related tools.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License; bilingual (French/English) preferred.
