Manager, R&D Software Quality managing test automation teams working on products based on micro service based architecture

As Manager, R&D Software Quality (f/m/x), you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of our software solutions that support clinical research worldwide. You will lead a high-performing Software Quality Engineering team and partner closely with R&D, Product, and Project Management to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

  • What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage a team of software quality engineers, including automation engineers and manual testers, supporting Agile software development initiatives

  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee quality engineering activities to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and within budget

  • Provide people leadership including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and professional development

  • Define, communicate, and execute test strategies across projects, ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, and quality requirements

  • Oversee test planning, execution, reporting, and traceability across system, integration, regression, and acceptance testing

  • Establish and continuously improve quality processes, standards, and testing methodologies, including automation and continuous integration practices

  • Evaluate, select, and implement testing tools, frameworks, and techniques aligned with organizational standards

  • Ensure integrity and completeness of testing and acceptance activities, including coordination of security and system testing

  • Partner with software development, product management, and project management teams to evaluate deliverables against acceptance criteria

  • Identify quality risks, audit findings, and process gaps, and drive corrective and preventive actions

  • Provide expert guidance on quality management practices, testing standards, and regulatory expectations

  • Maintain and update organizational quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

  • What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software quality engineering, including at least 3 years in a people management role

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring teams of manual and automation test engineers

  • Strong expertise in manual and automated testing tools, frameworks, and architectures

  • Experience working in Agile environments using methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe

  • Solid background in DevOps practices and cloud-based software solutions

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing techniques (functional, integration, system, regression)

  • Hands-on knowledge of scripting or programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Ruby, as well as SQL

  • Experience testing web APIs and/or mobile applications

  • Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools; experience with Polarion is an advantage

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, including 21 CFR Part 11 and cGxP, is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Based in or able to work from Estenfield, Germany (hybrid work arrangement)
