ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manager, Environmental Compliance is responsible for leading Crown Castle’s environmental compliance program across all operations, deployments, construction projects, and facility management activities. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, with a focus on statutes and requirements unique to the wireless infrastructure industry. The Manager will develop and implement processes, procedures, and training, oversee compliance reporting, and serve as a subject matter expert on environmental and RF emissions matters.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Ensure company-wide compliance with all applicable environmental statutes, including but not limited to NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and relevant FCC, FAA, EPA, and USFWS regulations.Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in environmental laws and regulations affecting wireless infrastructure, including state and local requirements.Oversee the preparation and submission of required environmental assessments and reporting.Manage the company’s response to environmental spills and incidents, ensuring immediate notification, containment, and remediation in accordance with Crown Castle’s protocols and regulatory requirements.Oversee compliance with the Endangered Species Act and related wildlife protection statutes, including the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act.Direct the assessment of project impacts on threatened or endangered species and critical habitats, ensuring proper surveys, documentation, and agency consultations.Implement mitigation strategies and secure necessary permits for work in sensitive areas.Ensure compliance with FCC RF emissions standards, including site-specific exposure assessments, signage, and access controls.Maintain documentation and respond to regulatory inquiries or audits related to RF emissions.Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental compliance processes and protocols.Lead and mentor regulatory teams, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.Prepare and deliver compliance reports, audits, and business insights to senior leadership and external agencies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Real Estate, Operations, Safety) to ensure integrated compliance strategies.Provide insights and information related to environmental considerations as new business opportunities arise. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret and apply environmental compliance requirements to practical business scenarios. Ability to navigate through a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapt to changing regulatory landscapes, and drive continuous improvement in compliance processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Proven ability to identify and assess environmental compliance risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and implement effective control measures.Strong software skills, including Microsoft Office products. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (, CHMM, REM) preferred Experience Qualifications
Minimum of five (5)+ years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, with at least 3 years in telecommunications or a closely related industry.Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying environmental regulations to complex infrastructure projects.Hands-on experience with environmental spill/incident response, hazardous materials management, and regulatory reporting.Proven track record managing endangered/protected species compliance, including field assessments, agency consultation, and mitigation planning.Direct experience with RF emissions compliance, including FCC exposure limits, signage, and worker safety protocols.Experience working with regulatory agencies and external consultants.Familiarity with environmental permitting for wireless infrastructure (towers, small cells, fiber).Experience developing and delivering environmental and RF safety training.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience with environmental due diligence, audits, and risk mitigation strategies. Where You Will Work
This role falls into our hybrid work model, which is 2-days work from home (Monday and Friday) and 3-days in the office (Tuesday through Thursday) to optimize collaboration, relationship building and key stakeholder engagement and may require some travel as needed.

The salary range offered for this position is $114200 - $157000 annually. A candidate's offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives.
