Brief Description: 
The Laboratory Manager leads a local team of Test Engineers, Reliability Engineers, and Test Technicians in the design, construction, and execution of reliability, safety, and electromagnetic testing.   The role oversees daily activities across multiple products including three-phase uninterruptible power supplies, rack power distribution, telecommunications power equipment, static transfer switches, and other connectivity appliances.  The Lab Manager interfaces regularly with internal business partners in planning capacity and capability in test execution.
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for planning the capital and operation expenses on a yearly basis.  Likewise, they are responsible for tracking the capital and operational spend on a quarterly basis.  This role is responsible for the replacement and repairs of all lab equipment.  On a yearly basis, the Lab Manager shall plan capital expenditures for new or replacement equipment.  This role also ensures all lab equipment is calibrated per the company’s policy. 
The Laboratory Manager provides periodic updates to the Director of Quality with regards to budgetary items, 5S and Safety, employee performance, and process improvement opportunities.  The Laboratory Manager provides performance reviews of their direct reports as per the company policy.


Responsibilities:
•    Daily supervision of laboratory operations and personnel
•    Interface with internal business partners for testing requirements
•    Schedule laboratory resources
•    Coordinate with laboratory managers in other regions for best practices
•    Annual capital expenditure planning
•    Maintenance contracts for laboratory equipment
•    Periodically attend industry events
•    Maintain ISO 17025 certification
•    Implement Capability Maturity Model Integration Maturity Level 5 within lab operations


Requirements: 
•    Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
•    10+ years of electrical or mechanical engineering product development, design, repair, or support experience including personnel leadership
•    Working knowledge in power/electrical engineering; three-phase alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) power, IGBTs, inverters, rectifiers, microprocessor and sensor interfacing, firmware interfacing, DC batteries, connectors/wire- harnesses
•    Working knowledge in large and small scale cooling systems
•    Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and PCBA layouts
•    Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve and prevent a wide range of problems quickly and methodically
•    Ability to operate in an electro-mechanical testing lab environment safely and successfully
•    Must be comfortable interfacing with customer and at times traveling to sites to troubleshoot difficult or high-profile technical issues
•    Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills
•    Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams
•    Travel 15%
