About the Role:

A leading global financial services firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated legal professional to join its India legal team. This position will be based in Bangalore and will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end legal function for the firm s India operations. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and to contribute to strategic legal initiatives at a regional and global level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full spectrum of legal affairs for the India geography, including advisory, regulatory, commercial, corporate, and employment law matters.
• Provide legal counsel on business operations, new initiatives, regulatory changes, and corporate governance.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and service-level arrangements.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (HR, Compliance, Finance, Technology, etc.) to ensure legal risks are managed effectively.
• Partner with external counsel on specialized legal matters and litigation (if any).
• Monitor changes in Indian legal and regulatory landscape and assess their impact on business operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Indian laws and regulations.
• Support cross-border legal initiatives in collaboration with legal teams in other geographies.
• Lead legal risk management and support internal policy development.

Key Requirements:

• LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution; additional qualifications (e.g., CS, LLM) are a plus.
• 8 15 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in financial services, investment management, or with a top-tier law firm.
• Strong understanding of Indian corporate, commercial and regulatory laws.
• Excellent contract negotiation, drafting, and advisory skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple stakeholders, and make informed legal decisions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience working in a matrixed and global environment is preferred.
