The Mental Health Commission’s vision is for Western Australians to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

The Commission has recently established a dedicated Office for Alcohol and Other Drugs as part of broader reforms to improve leadership, accountability, and coordination of the alcohol and other drugs system in Western Australia.

The Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs is responsible for informing, developing, and overseeing the Government’s alcohol and other drugs strategy and system-wide strategic policy reform across the State. It will drive interagency coordination and strengthen intergovernmental and sector-wide relationships to achieve better outcomes for the Western Australian community in relation to alcohol and other drugs policy, programs and services.

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic applicants for the role of Manager Strategic Policy in the Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs. The role is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing key strategy, policy, and planning initiatives and projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to reduce harms from alcohol and other drugs.

In undertaking the role, the occupant will need to recognise that there is a commitment to focusing on the needs of the individual, their families, carers or advocates working in partnership for better alcohol and other drug outcomes and improved mental health.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Suitable applicants may be considered for other similar vacancies within 12 months of applicants being notified of the recruitment decision.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/6/2026.
