ConsMin are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Services Manager to lead and support the Technical Services team at our West Perth office and Woodie Woodie site. The Company is an owner-operator miner, and we own and maintain a mining fleet consisting of Hitachi and Caterpillar excavators, dump trucks, and various ancillary equipment.

ConsMin produces some of the world’s highest grade manganese ore and is considered a world leader in manganese mining. Our ConsMin Australian operation (Woodie Woodie) is based in the WA Pilbara, 407km south‑east of Port Hedland. Enjoy a short two‑hour flight direct to our well‑equipped camp and mining operation – only a five‑minute drive from Woodie airport.

Reporting to the General Manager – Operations, the Technical Services Manager is accountable for leading and integrating the site’s Technical Services functions—Mining Engineering, Geology, and Survey—together with the Perth‑based technical team of senior mining engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multi‑disciplinary technical team (Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical, and Survey) both on site and in our office based in West Perth.
  • Foster collaboration across site and corporate teams to drive consistent technical standards, governance, and professional development.
  • Set clear performance expectations, monitor outcomes, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and implementation of all mine designs, pit optimisation, and production scheduling (short, medium, and long‑term).
  • Ensure practical integration between planning, load/haul, and drill‑and‑blast operations, aligning daily activities to business objectives.
  • Provide technical assurance for pit design compliance, mine sequencing, and reconciliation.
  • Manage coordination between geology and grade control to optimise ore extraction and minimise dilution and loss.
  • Contribute to LOM planning, resource and reserve updates, and annual budget processes.
  • Review and approve technical studies, designs, and operational improvement projects.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant mining regulations, codes, and internal standards.
  • Provide technical input for feasibility studies, project evaluations, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Support technical problem‑solving, cost analysis, and performance reviews through data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Champion effective communication between Technical Services and Production to ensure practical execution of mine plans.

Requirements to be successful in this role are:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of open‑pit mining experience, including substantial time in both technical and operational leadership roles
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi‑pit or large‑scale open‑pit operations
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional technical teams across multiple locations
  • Strong working knowledge of mining software packages (e.g. Surpac, Whittle, Deswik, or equivalent)
  • Comprehensive understanding of drill‑and‑blast design, pit optimisation, cost modelling, and reconciliation processes
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills

Applicants must be able to pass a full pre‑employment medical, provide a clean NPC (dated within the last 6 months or able to obtain), and provide valid references.
