Marine Automation Engineer

Role Description

The Marine Automation Engineer is a full-time hybrid role based in Kolkata, with flexibility for remote work. Responsibilities include :

-      Diagnosing and troubleshooting automation systems on marine vessels,

-      Providing maintenance and repair services for automation and control systems,

-      Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

The role involves working collaboratively with technical teams to implement automation process control solutions, overseeing installations of automation components, and deploying automation equipment.

The engineer will be boarding merchant vessels as necessary. Also, contribute to upgrading marine electrical / electronic systems to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

2-3 years’ experience as Electrical Officer in Merchant Vessel

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related fields. Having prior experience in the maritime industry is necessary.

Familiarity with international & national maritime regulatory standards is advantageous.

Proficiency in Troubleshooting and identifying issues within automation and control systems onboard ships. Should have experience in working with shipboard systems like – ODME, OWS, Gas detection system, Telephone exchange, Cargo monitoring system, Water ingress detection systems, ME/ AE control systems and governor control systems, Boiler automation system, Incinerator automation system, EGCS and SCR systems. 

Knowledge of Process Control and Automation technologies, including system programming and integration.

Strong expertise in Electrical Engineering, including troubleshooting, installation, and repair of marine electrical systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a maritime sector.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
