Job Summary:
The Maritime Mechanic shall have a minimum of three (3) yearsβ experience as an Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certified mechanic with commercial small outboard engines
and ancillary equipment. The Government does not require OEM Certification of a specific
manufacturer but it must be a certification relevant to the marine industry and aligned with
the types of Craft operated by EODGRU ONE.
β’ Desired experience includes troubleshooting and minor repairs of inboard marine
diesel engines, as well as familiarity with waterjets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures; repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engines on military SABAR equipment.
+ Service and repair jet and propeller dive systems and gearing.
+ Perform complex electrical troubleshooting and repair for ignition, lighting, panel controls, accessories, and DC output points.
+ Perform preventative maintenance and/or corrective repair in accordance
+ with the Navy Maintenance & Material Management (3M) Program, utilizing appropriate Personnel Qualification Standards and software as directed.
+ Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systems.
+ Shall perform shore-based operational/functional testing per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines
+ Maintain and repair chassis, frames, and bodies.
+ Service and repair boat trailers
+ Operate hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges, and meters
+ Lubricate equipment; maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes, and valves.
+ Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control.
+ Responsible for the movement of watercraft, trailers, outboard engines, or any watercraft system component or palletized repair parts.
+ Operate Government vehicles for the purpose of diagnosis and testing of equipment faults and completed repairs.
+ Maintain generally accepted safety & cleanliness standards within designated workspaces and warehouse/storage spaces.
+ Possible OCONUS/CONUS travel.
Qualifications:
+ Minimum of four years of experience as a certified Diesel Mechanic.
+ Three years of experience as a certified Marine Outboard Engine Mechanic
+ Capable of operating test equipment, electrical hand tools, and basic hand tools.
+ Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds multiple times a day during training exercises.
+ Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.
+ Current DoD Secret Clearance.
