General Reinsurance, Madrid Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an excellent opportunity for a Senior Account Executive.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Senior Account Executive will be responsible for managing and developing client relationships within the Iberian life and health reinsurance market, covering Spain, Portugal and Andorra. The role combines client management, technical pricing, and product development responsibilities. The successful candidate will ensure continuity and quality of service to clients, contribute to business growth, and support the company’s objectives through technical excellence and effective collaboration.

Context of the Role

Gen Re has established long-standing and trusted partnerships with leading life insurance companies in Spain, Portugal and Andorra. This position plays a central role in maintaining and further strengthening these relationships while identifying new opportunities for collaboration. Internally, the Senior Account Manager will work closely with colleagues to apply Gen Re’s business philosophy, methodologies, tools, and systems. The role offers an opportunity to contribute both strategically and technically to the continued success of Gen Re’s Life & Health business in the region.

Key Responsibilities

·Serve as the primary client contact for life and health reinsurance business across Spain, Portugal and Andorra

·Manage and strengthen existing client relationships, ensuring a high level of service and responsiveness.

·Perform pricing of all treaty types and lines of business, in accordance with Gen Re methodologies, standards, tools, and authority framework.

·Contribute to the development and enhancement of Life & Health products, supporting innovation and market relevance.

·Collaborate with the Legal Department on treaty-related matters and documentation.

·Support the continuous improvement of operational processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.

·Deliver technical presentations, training, and seminars to clients and industry partners.

·Work collaboratively with colleagues across functions and geographies to meet business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in life and health reinsurance, with a proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver technically sound pricing analyses. They will combine actuarial and analytical expertise with clear communication and excellent organisational skills, ensuring effective collaboration with colleagues and clients across Spain, Portugal and Andorra. In addition, they will demonstrate a solid understanding of local insurance markets, a proactive and creative approach to problem-solving, and the professionalism needed to represent Gen Re with credibility and integrity.

·Actuarial degree or equivalent quantitative qualification.

·Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in life and health reinsurance in Spain, or 8–10 years in the direct life insurance industry in Spain.

·Strong technical understanding of life and health reinsurance products, pricing, and risk assessment.

·Proven ability to perform technical analysis and quotations using actuarial models.

·Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

·Ability and willingness to learn and apply R and/or other data management tools.

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.

·Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.

·Native Spanish speaker, fluent in English; Portuguese proficiency is desirable.

·Willingness to travel within the Iberian region and occasionally internationally
