We are seeking a Special Order Designer to join our Engineered To Order (ETO) Group. This team specializes in adapting standard products to meet specific requirements, such as seismic considerations, color and electrical changes, special coatings, and capacity adjustments. Your work will contribute to the design and modification of Charlotte chiller systems and packaged products.
Responsibilities
+ Create or modify design concepts within the Creo environment for Charlotte chiller systems and packaged products.
+ Work with documents, drawings, and bills of material in various formats.
+ Apply knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods.
+ Design part modeling, large assembly modeling, sheet metal, and piping.
+ Manage data change and version controls.
+ Utilize engineering design tools such as Creo, Windchill, and ProjectLink effectively.
+ Demonstrate creativity in new product design and customization.
+ Coordinate design activities with local and offshore design teams.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design and design project management.
+ Proficiency with Pro/ENGINEER (minimum 2 years), including advanced assemblies, 3D modeling, sheet metal, piping, and drawing.
+ Experience with Windchill, including document and change management, and bill of materials.
+ Excellent drafting standards and procedures.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Experience with bill of material structure and databases.
+ Knowledge of sheet metal and piping design and manufacturing processes.
+ Previous experience in HVAC product design or product sustaining.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ BSME or BSMET degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
+ Masters degree in Engineering is a plus.
+ Experience with FEA and project engineering.
+ Experience with large manufacturing assembly, heavy industrial products.
+ Exposure to electro-mechanical control systems and components.
Work Environment
The work environment is a large manufacturing center with a test lab and engineering R&D on site. The team supports custom and commercial HVAC units, which are very large products shipped internationally. Designers are responsible for their own drafting and documentation, and the design team supports all engineering groups. There are four engineering groups with NPD and sustaining functions. The facility includes five test labs, where you will have the opportunity to be involved in various projects and take on more responsibilities as you progress.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $44.00/hr.
