Third-party or C2C candidates will not be considered.</b></div> </div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"><br /> <b>Scope of Position:</b><br /> Position will serve as a mechanical resource for Plant Engineering based in the Hickory, NC facility. Main responsibility is to function as mechanical design support on project work to improve existing fiber optic cable manufacturing equipment.</div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"> </div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"><b>Primary Purpose:</b> Provide mechanical design support for process improvements, cost reduction, scrap reduction and safety enhancements.</div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"><br /> <b>Job functions include:</b></div> <ul> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Design tooling and/or mechanical assemblies utilizing Inventor or AutoCAD</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Obtain quotes and order components</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Revise equipment drawings</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Develop experimental plans to validate designs</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Assemble or oversee assembly of systems with opportunity for hands-on work</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px"> Debug and resolve issues when integrating designs into production equipment</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Work closely with a cross-functional engineering team, including IT, process, and electrical engineers/technicians</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px"> Work with operations to update documentation and support training as needed</li> </ul> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"><b>PPE Required: </b>Safety Glasses, Safety Gloves, Safety Shoes, Ear Plugs<br /> <br /> <b>Travel Requirements:</b> Negligible<br /> <br /> <b>Required Education: </b>BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology degree or comparable engineering experience<br /> <br /> <b>Required Years and Area of Experience:</b> 3+</div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"><br /> <b>Required Skills:</b></div> <ul> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Experience with mechanical system design and integration</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px"> Ability to generate or modify mechanical models/drawings primarily using Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software), Vault and some AutoCAD</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Knowledge and application of drafting standards, including GD&T</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px"> Ability to work with machine shops/vendors to complete part procurement</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px"> Hands-on experience with mechanical system troubleshooting, such as pneumatic controls, flow control, water cooling systems, etc.</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px"> Experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Experience managing mechanics/electricians for equipment assembly and installation</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Strong CAD design skills (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred but SolidWorks or similar acceptable).</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Familiarity with mechanical systems and equipment.</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Ability to direct technicians and mechanics effectively.</li> </ul> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"> <div style="margin-bottom:11px"><b>Desired Skills:</b></div> <ul> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Familiarity or experience with plastic extrusion manufacturing</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Experienced in electrical system troubleshooting, including low and medium voltage systems, motion control, PLCs, temperature control systems, etc</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Working knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, PI, and/or Power BI</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Process engineering experience (data analysis, scrap reduction).</li> <li class="olUlHelper pl10px">Hands-on mechanical aptitude.</li> </ul> <div> <div><b>Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):</b></div> <ul> <li>Works well in a team environment, is a "self-starter" and "results-oriented".</li> <li>Acts and makes decisions in the best interest of the team.</li> <li>Complies with all policies and procedures of the plant.</li> <li>Works well with other disciplines (IT, electrical, and process engineering) to fully understand manufacturing system functionality and design requirements.</li> <li>Experience working in a manufacturing floor or construction environment, with a strong focus on job site safety. </li> <li>Proactive regarding safety. </li> <li>Seeks to identify and correct potential safety or environmental issues before they occur.</li> </ul> </div> </div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"><b>Interview Process:</b></div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"> <ul> <li style="margin-bottom:11px">Initial phone screen with hiring manager.</li> <li style="margin-bottom:11px">On-site interviews include a plant tour and a panel interview with team members and supervisors.</li> </ul> </div> <div class="olUlHelper pl10px"> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"><b>Work Environment Split:</b> About 70% office work (design, planning) and 30% on the manufacturing floor. </p> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"><b>Hands on Expectations:</b>
