Position - Mechanical Maintenance Manager
Location - Shrirampur
Reporting - Plant Maintenance Manager - Engg & Maintenance
Educational Qualification – BE (Mechanical Engineering)
Experience - 8-10 years in the mechanical maintenance field—preferably from the dairy processing/food industry.
Position Overview
The Maintenance Head is responsible for leading, planning, and overseeing all maintenance activities in the dairy plant to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of machinery, utilities, and plant infrastructure. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, compliance with food safety standards, and cost-effective maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all dairy processing equipment, utilities, refrigeration systems, boilers, CIP systems, packaging machines, and plant infrastructure.
- Ensure minimal downtime through timely inspections and repairs.
- Maintain maintenance schedules, SOPs, and documentation.
Technical Oversight
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues across the plant.
- Ensure proper calibration and functioning of dairy-specific equipment such as pasteurizers, homogenizers, separators, chillers, compressors, and evaporators.
- Supervise installation and commissioning of new machinery.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and supervise maintenance staff, including technicians, electricians, fitters, and external contractors.
- Conduct performance evaluations and develop skill-building plans for the team.
- Ensure adherence to safety and maintenance best practices.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, GMP, and other dairy industry standards.
- Implement safety protocols for equipment operation and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate internal audits and ensure readiness for external audits.
Inventory & Budget Management
- Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and procurement of equipment.
- Maintain stock levels of critical spares and consumables.
- Optimize maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability
Utility Management
- Oversee operation and maintenance of utilities such as:
- Refrigeration systems (ammonia/ Freon)
- Boilers and steam systems
- Water treatment plants
- Compressed air systems
- Effluent treatment plants (ETP)
- Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement automation, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Analyze equipment performance data and drive efficiency improvements.
- Reduce breakdowns and improve equipment lifespan through modern maintenance techniques.
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Good understanding of GMP, HACCP, and safety regulations.
- Problem-solving, planning, and execution abilities.
