As a Mechanical Engineer in the Structures and Propulsion organization your duties will include supporting the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the structure and propulsion subcomponents and assemblies, either in an oversight role for supplier-provided components, or as a direct production interface for in-house components. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related disciplines including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include:

• Assist in the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of structures and propulsion components and subsystems

• Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution

• Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components

• Work on a multi-disciplinary team performing design trades, detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems

• Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews

• Support Subsystem Integration tasks and information requests on an as-needed basis

• Collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)

Desired skills

• Deep technical understanding of missile system disciplines, including but not limited to:

- Structural systems
- Propulsion Systems
- Thermal protection systems
- System integration and testing
- Non-conformance disposition in a Quality Management system

• Flight Hardware Design experience

• Experience with tolerance stack analysis

• Knowledge of other disciplines (i.e. - stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, ATLO, electronics)

• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5

• Proven ability to effectively manage and complete complex technical problems

• Experience with requirement definition, documentation and verification

• Experience operating through the full lifecycle development process with an emphasis on development, production, and sustainment

• Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences

• Active Secret clearance
