Role Overview
KCT is launching an IDEA Lab to drive interdisciplinary innovation, rapid prototyping, and hands-on product development. As a core technical leader, the Mechanical Engineer will enable high-quality fabrication, mentor student teams, and support cutting-edge engineering projects across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design, fabrication, prototyping, and machining activities.
- Operate, maintain, and upgrade lab equipment including 3D printers, CNCs, milling machines, lathes, and laser cutters.
- Train students and faculty on machine usage, safety, and fabrication workflows.
- Mentor capstone and innovation teams on design, materials, analysis, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with electronics/EEE teams on mechatronics, IoT, and automation projects.
- Ensure lab safety, documentation, and inventory compliance.
- Support funded projects, competitions, workshops, and innovation programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, machining, fabrication, and 3D modelling (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo).
- Experience supporting student projects or working in labs, makerspaces, R&D, or startups preferred.
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and equipment maintenance is a plus.
