A medical coder is a healthcare professional who converts patient diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS). These codes are crucial for medical billing, insurance claims, statistical reporting, and quality management in healthcare.
Core Responsibilities:
Assign medical codes to diagnoses and procedures in patient records.
Ensure accuracy by reviewing clinical documentation.
