Job Description

Overview

Medical record technicians perform a variety of medical administrative duties that provide support to health-related services and medical departments. They are responsible for maintaining patient medical records and preparing requests for diagnostic tests and referrals. They monitor long-term patient data and audit completed records and forms for administrative and technical accuracy. They process patient admission to medical facilities and they schedule patients for medical board action.

Military Training

All enlisted service members complete basic military training, which includes time spent in a classroom and in the field, and covers tactical and survival skills, physical training, military life and customs, and weapons training. Medical record technicians in the Military will gain skills through classroom study and on-the-job experience. Job-specific training content may include:

  • Basic computer and clerical skills
