A healthcare opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with intensive care experience to join a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team on a contract basis in Shawnee, KS. This role involves providing high-level nursing care in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment, with opportunities to float across multiple inpatient units, including ICU, med/surg, telemetry, and emergency department. Location Shawnee, KS offers a blend of suburban comfort with proximity to urban amenities. Responsibilities Deliver direct nursing care to PCU patients, managing complex conditions with critical care skills. Utilize experience with CRRT, Bipap machines, chest tubes, PICC lines, and drawing labs independently. Respond competently to emergency codes and call consults as required. Float across various hospital units including ICU, med/surg, telemetry, and ED as per staffing needs. Participate in orientation and training sessions, including EPIC EMR system training. Qualifications & Experience Valid Kansas RN or Compact RN license. Minimum 2 years recent experience in Critical Care or Intensive Care Units. Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale required. Competency in managing advanced clinical interventions and emergency responses. Comfortable with independent decision-making and critical care assessments. Schedule & Hours 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730). Every other weekend commitment required. Holiday shifts including Christmas Eve/Day and New Years Eve/Day based on unit needs. Contract Details Orientation includes several days of comprehensive training at multiple campuses. This is a contract role with potential for extensions. No on-call responsibilities.
