Job Description
We are seeking a Membrane Expert to strengthen the research and product development efforts within the Desalination vertical at WTC. The candidate will work on advancing the performance, selectivity, and lifespan of membranes used in seawater and brackish water desalination. The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of transport phenomena, fouling mechanisms, and membrane material characterization, coupled with hands-on experience in membrane testing, surface modification, and performance enhancement.
This role involves the development and validation of novel membranes and hybrid processes, including RO, UF, NF, FO, and emerging electro-membrane systems. The candidate will also contribute to developing predictive models for fouling control, flux recovery, and long-term membrane performance. Close collaboration with chemical, process, and digital specialists will be critical to ensure lab results transition into robust field solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on advanced membranes for desalination and water reuse applications.
Develop new membrane coatings, surface modifications, and cleaning protocols.
Analyze membrane performance using SEM, AFM, EDX, and contact angle analysis.
Lead lab and pilot experiments on hybrid RO/FO/UF systems.
Work with vendors and partners for module design and scale-up.
Document and publish research findings in reputed journals.
Mentor young researchers and interns in membrane technology fundamentals.
Qualifications
Education: PhD or M.Tech in Chemical, Environmental, or Materials Engineering.
Experience: Approximately 10 years of experience in membrane R&D or desalination applications.
Strong foundation in mass transfer, membrane fabrication, and fouling science.
Publications: Minimum 3–5 publications in peer-reviewed journals on membrane science. Patents will be an added advantage.
Familiarity with simulation tools, membrane testing rigs, and analytical instruments.
