Job Description

The Melba S. Lehner (MSL) Children s School at Weber State University is a model demonstration laboratory center. A mentor teacher is assigned to lead an early childhood classroom that trains preservice teachers. The mentor teacher role with university students includes observation,modeling,hands-on application,feedback and scaffolding. Mentor teachers work to design and implement inquiry driven developmentally appropriate curricula for young children in their classrooms. This position is a dual role of maintaining a model classroom that meets NAEYC criteria,while also acting as a coach to help WSU students develop research-based teaching practices. Additionally,mentor teachers represent WSU in the community by serving as a model and resource of evidence-based practice in early care.The mentor teacher will work under the direction of the Melba S.
