Responsibilities include creating detailed plans, coordinating systems, overseeing installation, testing, and ensuring seamless integration with overall building design for occupant comfort and sustainability. Core Responsibilities Design & Planning: Develop and review MEP drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, integrating them with the building's architecture. Coordination: Work with architects, structural, and other engineers to ensure smooth integration of different systems. Installation Oversight: Manage and supervise contractors to ensure MEP systems are installed according to design and quality standards. Compliance: Verify adherence to local, national, and international building codes, safety regulations, and energy efficiency standards. Testing & Commissioning: Test and validate systems post-installation to confirm proper operation and efficiency. Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and maintenance plans for the systems. Key Systems Covered Mechanical: Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), Fire Protection. Electrical: Power distribution, lighting, low-current systems (data, security, alarms), generators, and backup power. Plumbing: Water supply, drainage, sewage, and waste management. Typical Roles MEP Design Engineer: Focuses on creating the detailed plans and specifications. MEP Site Engineer: Manages on-site installation and execution.
