Project Executive – MEP (Electrical & Mechanical)
Location: Houston, Texas
Compensation: $130,000 – $160,000
Role Summary
Seeking an experienced Project Executive with 15+ years of commercial MEP construction experience to provide senior leadership across project execution, business development, contract management, and team development.
This individual will be ultimately responsible for high-level execution, financial performance, risk management, and customer satisfaction for one or multiple complex MEP projects. The role requires a hands-on leader who can manage key projects, bring in new work through client relationships, and mentor junior Project Managers and Sales Managers on best-in-class project delivery.
Projects will span commercial, institutional, industrial, and specialty/technical facilities, including new construction, design-build, renovations, and complex retrofit work.
Core Responsibilities
Project & Operational Leadership
Provide executive oversight and accountability for the execution, financial performance, and delivery of complex electrical and mechanical projects. Maintain full, hands-on knowledge of project scope, requirements, schedules, budgets, and deliverables at all times. Lead project controls including cost management, forecasting, change management, billing, collections, and monthly status reporting. Ensure projects meet contractual obligations, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations. Serve as the primary escalation point for project risks, scope issues, and execution challenges. Hold full accountability for project completion, profitability, risk mitigation, and client satisfaction. Team Leadership & Mentorship
Lead and manage project teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, Coordinators, and field leadership. Mentor, develop, and train junior Project Managers and Sales Managers on how to properly run and sell projects. Set execution standards and reinforce disciplined project management practices across the organization. Lead by example in professionalism, accountability, communication, and execution rigor. Support staffing decisions, performance management, and team development in partnership with leadership. Business Development & Client Engagement
Actively participate in business development efforts, leveraging an established network to bring in new electrical and mechanical work. Build and maintain senior-level relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, and facility stakeholders. Support contract negotiations, scope alignment, risk review, and insurance requirements. Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams during pursuits, pricing reviews, and design-build engagements. Serve as a key point of contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners. Regional & Organizational Leadership
Participate in regional operations, staffing strategy, business planning, and process improvement initiatives. Support preconstruction efforts and help align sales commitments with execution realities. Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery systems, controls, and standards. Qualifications
15+ years of experience in commercial MEP construction, with progressive responsibility at the Project Manager or Project Executive level. Strong background in electrical and/or mechanical construction, with exposure to complex, multi-discipline projects. Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex projects and multiple teams simultaneously. Proven success mentoring and developing project and sales professionals. Deep understanding of construction contracts, cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls. Strong working knowledge of building systems and MEP construction processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management, cost control, and scheduling software Prolog, CMIC, Primavera, or similar platforms). Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Strong communication skills, leadership presence, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
