Role Overview


The Senior Manager - Buying & Merchandising will be responsible for driving the overall buying, assortment planning, and merchandising strategy for the Brand across channels. This role will ensure strong product relevance, optimal inventory management, margin achievement, and alignment with brand and business objectives.


Key Responsibilities


Buying & Assortment Planning

  • Lead seasonal buying strategy aligned with brand positioning, customer insights, and market trends.
  • Develop balanced assortments across categories, price points, and channels (EBO, LFS, Online).
  • Work closely with design and sourcing teams to finalize product ranges and quantities.


Merchandising & Performance Management

  • Own category performance including sales, margins, sell-through, and inventory turns.
  • Monitor in-season performance and take corrective actions on replenishment, markdowns, and liquidation.
  • Drive optimal allocation and replenishment strategies across stores and online platforms.


Inventory & Margin Control

  • Ensure healthy inventory levels while minimizing aging and obsolescence.
  • Drive gross margin improvement through effective costing, pricing, and markdown management.


Market & Consumer Insights

  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and consumer preferences to influence buying decisions.
  • Use data and analytics to support forecasting, demand planning, and assortment optimization.


Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the buying and merchandising team.
  • Collaborate with design, sourcing, supply chain, retail, and e-commerce teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Present business reviews, range plans, and performance updates to senior leadership.


Desired Profile

  • 12–15 years of experience in Buying & Merchandising within fashion/apparel retail, preferably ethnic or women’s wear.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian retail ecosystem including EBO, LFS, and online channels.
  • Proven experience in driving category growth, margins, and inventory efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in planning tools and retail metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
