Job Description:

Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Metallurgical Failure Analyst for our client based out of Hagerstown, MD.

This assignment is anticipated to be an 8‑month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.

This will also have a first shift Monday–Friday schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform root cause analysis on failed metal components, including examination of fracture surfaces, corrosion, and microstructures
  • Utilize SEM, EDS, optical microscopy, hardness testing, tensile testing, and related methods to determine failure mechanisms (, fatigue, creep, stress corrosion cracking)
  • Develop and execute destructive and non‑destructive tests (NDT) to replicate failures and validate material performance
