**Metals Mechanic**
**Shape the Metal Behind Flight-Critical Aerospace Systems**
**Location:** Wichita, KS
**Schedule:** Must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks (majority of new hires start on **2nd shift** )
**Job Type:** Full-Time Consultant (3 Months)
**Pay Rate:** $38.00 – $40.00 per hour
**Role Summary**
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire skilled **Metals Mechanics** in Wichita, KS. In this hands-on role, you will fabricate and form precision metal components that directly support aircraft safety, performance, and reliability. Your craftsmanship will help keep production moving and quality uncompromised.
**What You’ll Do**
+ Fabricate metal components using tasks such as deburring, bending, routing, forming, cutting, shearing, shrinking, flanging, punching, countersinking, tapping, chamfering, and pressure/leak testing
+ Use hand and power tools, shop equipment, and fixtures to complete assigned work
+ Apply potting compounds and sealers as required
+ Work from blueprints, drawings, templates, form blocks, and written or verbal instructions
+ Perform self-inspection prior to the next work sequence using precision measuring tools (calipers, scales, electronic measurement tools)
+ Set up, adjust, maintain, and operate fabrication equipment
+ Perform rework and repair of nonconforming parts as required
+ Conduct first-part reviews and document nonconforming conditions
+ Support routine Total Preventive Maintenance activities
+ Move product within the shop area using assigned equipment and complete required transactions
+ Support continuous production flow by assisting and training team members
+ Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and process standards (FOD, Hazmat, OSHA, QMS, AS9100, etc.)
**Required Qualifications**
+ 4–5 years of hand-forming metal experience
+ Experience using stretch press, brake forms, bag press, and other metal bending equipment
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
+ Strong understanding of shop math and precision measurement
+ Willingness and ability to work any shift, including alternative work weeks
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Aerospace manufacturing experience
+ Construction or industrial metal fabrication experience
+ Familiarity with certification environments (e.g., AS9100, Nadcap)
