Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. We have an open position in the LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). The Hardware group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability. This position is a Embedded Manager role in Etch Electrical Engineering team and is based out of Bangalore. In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supplier quality engineers contribute to designing and improving Lam’s products. to deliver best in class solutions for Lam’s global customers. 

What You’ll Do

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive Embedded Systems roadmap for the Lam products.
  • Lead highly motivated Embedded Firmware and FPGA teams in developing solutions, running simulations and regressions of FPGA/Firmware based designs used in semiconductor plasma etchers.
  • Responsibilities include collaborating with FPGA and firmware engineers to architect and design the applicable solutions
  • Responsible for hiring, training and retaining key talent
  • Plans and coordinates with cross functional teams within Lam India and other regions to set right priorities for projects
  • Develop organization succession plan and implement it.
  • Drive the team succession plan and responsible for developing high performing teams.
  • Responsible for translating organization objectives to individual goal for the team members and enable engineers to achieve them.
  • Responsible for having continuous engagement with the engineers, provide constructive feedback monitor, hold review and merit recommendation.
  • Must own and drive requirements, design, and implementation of the solution including verification, verification IP, with appropriate algorithms
  • Model signal processing path and algorithms in Matlab and port them to verification IP for use in testbenches for validating designs.

  • Eligibility Criteria:

  • Years of Experience: 12 to 16 Years of work Experience

  • Educational qualification: Bachelor / Masters in Engineering in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science

  • Mandatory Skills:

  • Should have owned designs and embedded solutions used in industrial applications, architected the SDLC processes used in development, and setup test automation infrastructure to enable release management.
  • Should have experience in managing 8-10 engineers.
  • Prefer experience working on SoC designs and interfacing with an application running on an RTOS at the application layer.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing: FFT, FIR, IIR. Must be well versed in communications protocols (SPI, I2C, EtherCAT, Ethernet, RS232).
  • Good knowledge of integration testing of hardware and firmware for Embedded Systems. Experience in design and Automation testing for Embedded Devices.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Coding experience in a high-level language – Python, C, C++ (priority list, language)
  • Firmware development experience is desired.
  • Experience of CI/CD environment using Jenkins and Agile Methodologies.
  • Exposure to Linux internals
  • Familiarity with RTL based designs and design flow.
  • Familiarity with design and setup of software to control lab test setups for validation as part of device verification test (DVT).

    Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
